Something light and mild in flavour, something hoppy, something with coffee in as a pick me up or do you go the whole hog and open a can of European Strong Lager. Something sour, something fruity? Something hoppy? Today, my first beer is Thornbridge Jaipur in bottle from my local Waitrose and the good news is that my body will still tolerate alchohol and a very nice beer it is too. Glad I bought it’s colleague to help with the refreshment whilst watching the cricket. Over the years, I’ve shared some pretty rare/limited release beers with my close friends who consider themselves quot;beer geeks.quot; I usually don’t have any problem doing it, but I’ve noticed I don’t get much in return for it lately. These so called quot;beer geeksquot; haven’t gone out of their way to get a hold of anything like that for me#033; In fact, one of them had the audacity to send me pictures of himself drinking Westy 12 when he totally could’ve scored me a bottle #40;or at least invited me over to take a sip#41;#033;#033; It obviously goes without saying that some of my friends are dicks. But I’m wondering, have any of you guys been in a similar pickle? Should I just stop sharing beer with them altogether, or should I bring it up to them? If they’re really craft beer enthusiasts, why am I the only one who puts together tastings, goes on the hunt for rare/limited release beers, etc.? I tastes it in some weisse beers...most recently schneider edel weisse where i found it to be very noticeable and didnt like the beer at all. I still taste all of the other flavors common to the style and i dont think it is an infection...i think it is just a particular yeast or combination of ingredients that tastes this was to me. If I were to move to the US and I was going to pick a city to live in, which city would be best? #40;For beer of course#41; I know there were recent Beer City USA awards but I’m thinking of something else. What I’m wondering, is there a city that has the largest selection of beer from the US and around the world? Perhaps so many bottle shops and bars that have such a wide selection, you can get beer from everywhere. I know most breweries don’t distribute everywhere but sometimes they distribute to a particular place outside of their region. I was thinking maybe New York, just because it’s such a huge, famous market closer to Europe. LA/San Fran for the same reason but further away from Europe. Or maybe is it just is Grand Rapids/Ashville. I guess I’m just after the city with the most options. From Russian River, Bell’s, Dogfish Head, Cigar City to Great Divide and a whole bunch of imports.
